Product protection class

The IP(Ingress Protection) protection level refers to the protection level of the casing of electrical or electronic devices, also known as an IP code or IP rating. The rating typically consists of two digits, representing the dust and water resistance levels of the device.

The first digit represents the device's dust resistance level, ranging from 0 to 6, where 0 indicates no protection and 6 indicates complete protection, preventing dust from entering the device. Here are the dust resistance levels corresponding to each digit:

0 - No protection

1 - Protection against objects larger than 50mm

2 - Protection against objects larger than 12.5mm

3 - Protection against objects larger than 2.5mm

4 - Protection against objects larger than 1.0mm

5 - Protection against dust but not completely

6 - Complete protection, preventing dust from entering the device

The second digit represents the device's water resistance level, ranging from 0 to 9, where 0 indicates no protection and 9 indicates complete protection, allowing the device to function even when immersed in water for a prolonged period. Here are the water resistance levels corresponding to each digit:

0 - No protection

1 - Protection against vertically falling drops of water

2 - Protection against falling drops of water when tilted up to 15 degrees

3 - Protection against spraying water

4 - Protection against splashing water

5 - Protection against low-pressure water jets

6 - Protection against high-pressure water jets

7 - Protection against temporary immersion

8 - Protection against prolonged immersion

9 - Complete protection, allowing the device to function even when immersed in water for a prolonged period.

Therefore, when purchasing electrical or electronic devices, you can check their IP protection level to understand their dust and water resistance levels and ensure their safety and reliability in specific environments.
